Animal Biology: Getting Started

This guide will assist you with your research for the Animal Diversity Project.

STEP 1

Select a threatened or endangered species from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service website.

Notice that there is a ton of great information on this page, information that is required for your Presentation Proposal like taxonomy and recovery plans.

STEP 2

 Search for Articles & eBooks

Advanced search

Run a search for your scientific species name in quotes in the library search to confirm that there are enough articles on your species to complete the assignment. If you get fewer than 50 results, you may need to select a different species.

STEP 3

Find the original species description. You can generally find the author and date on the Wikipedia page for your species.

STEP 4

As you continue to work on this assignment, use the tabs of this LibGuide (particularly the Primary Research Articles) to fully research your species. Consider adding terms like "evolution" or "conservation" etc. to fine-tune your search.
