Art: Books for Checkout

Course reserves are materials that are kept behind the Circulation Desk and are available for shorter checkout periods, so that everyone can have the opportunity to use them. Ask for them at the front desk.

New American Paintings is a "juried exhibition-in-print" with each issue featuring 40 painters from a competition of thousands of entries.  Each of the selected artists has 3 paintings reproduced in the magazine and a brief resume along with a statement from the painter is also included.

• Issues #123, 123, 124, and 125 are on RESERVE - ask for them at the front desk
• All others are located in the Periodical collection at the following call number: ND212 .N3678 (we have issues no.56-present)
• If you want to see if a particular artist has been featured in an issue, check the "Artists" portion of their website. LCCC does not have a subscription for online access to this magazine, but we have print copies back to 2005.  Use the website to determine which issue they were featured in and then find that issue in our library 
• If you use the general website search feature, you may also find news related to your artist in their blog.  These are available to read online.

We have many great art books in the Ludden Library.  They are classified in the N section and some may also be located in the Oversize area on the bottom shelves.  Please ask us if you have any trouble or would just like some assistance finding a book.  To find a specific book, use our online catalog to search by author name, artist, title, or subject.

To find biographical books about an artist:
(name of artist) and biography, for instance, type Van Gogh and biography

To find books about a particular art form, style, technique or era try combining terms, such as:
(type of art form) and (description), for instance, type sculpture and modern
or
ceramics and chinese
or
ceramics and glazes
or
painting and oil
