Course reserves are materials that are kept behind the Circulation Desk and are available for shorter checkout periods, so that everyone can have the opportunity to use them. Write down the call numbers of the books you'd like, give them to the staff at the Circulation Desk, and tell them you're requesting books which are "on reserve."

To find biographies and musical criticism about a composer or musician:
(name of composer) and biography, for instance, type Mozart and biography
or
(name of composer) and criticism
The library has many scores and sound recordings of various (mostly classical) works:
(name of work) and score, for instance, type Symphony no. 41 and score
or
(name of work) and "sound recording"
You can also make more advanced combinations to look for recordings or scores by specific authors. Remember, in music a composer, a musician or musical group, or a composer can all be considered "authors". Some examples:
(name of work) and (name of composer) and score, for instance, type
symphony and Tchaikovsky and score
(name of work) and (name of musician) and “sound recording”, for instace, type symphony and perlman and "sound recording"
(name of work) and (name of conductor) and "sound recording", for instance, type concerto and Previn and "sound recording"
