Registering to Vote

1. Qualifications
To Register to vote in Wyoming you must …
• Be 18 years old on Election Day.
• Be a U.S. Citizen.
• Be a resident of Laramie County.
• Not be a convicted felon.
• Not have been adjudicated mentally incompetent.
• Present a valid photo ID.
• Have withdrawn from a previous jurisdiction (if applicable).

2. Ways to Register
• In person at the County Clerk’s office at 309 W. 20th St., Cheyenne, Wyoming.
• In person at the offices of the Albin, Burns or Pine Bluffs Town Clerks.
• In person at a Voting Center on Election Day (Tuesday, November 8, 2016).
• By mail if absent from the state.
         A. Send a completed voter registration oath form signed in the presence of anyone authorized by state law to administer oaths to the Laramie County Clerk’s Office
         B. A copy of a valid photo ID must accompany the completed form.
• By use of Federal Post Card Application if a qualified member of the uniformed services, a military spouse, or citizen residing overseas.

Voting

1. Absentee Voting (begins September 23, 2016)
• Absentee voters can vote at the absentee Vote Center located in the Atrium of the Laramie County Governmental Complex at 309 W. 20th St., Cheyenne, Wyoming.
            A. The hours for the absentee Vote Center are 8:30am to 4:45pm, Monday through Friday.
            B. The absentee Vote Center is NOT open on Election Day (Tuesday, November 8, 2016).
• Absentee voters can also vote by mail.
• To request a ballot …           
            A. Call the County Clerk’s office at 307.633.4242.
            B. Send a written request to the Laramie County Clerk, Post Office Box 608, Cheyenne, WY, 82003.
            C. E-mail a request to the County Clerk at election@laramiecountyclerk.com.
            D. Take a written request directly to the County Clerk’s Office at 309 W. 20th St., Cheyenne, Wyoming.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Mail to, from and within Cheyenne is processed in Denver for delivery. You should allow at least three weeks if you are voting absentee by mail: one week for your request to get from you to the County Clerk, one week for the ballot to get from the County Clerk to you, and one week for the completed ballot to get back to the County Clerk.

SECOND IMPORTANT NOTE: Pay close attention to the instructions for completing your ballot. Failure to do so could get your ballot disqualified.

2. Voting in person on Election Day (Tuesday, November 8, 2016)
• Individuals can vote at any of thirteen (13) Vote Centers in Laramie County.    
            A. To find the Vote Center closest to you go to https://maps.laramiecounty.com/votecenters/.
            B. Click that you agree to the terms of the website.
            C. Type in your address..
            D. On Election Day information will also appear on this web site that tells you how long lines are at each Vote Center.
• All Vote Centers will be open from 7:00am to 7:00pm on Election Day.
• All Vote Centers in Laramie County are ADA compliant.
