Library Circulation Policies: Borrowing

General Borrowing Policy

Borrowing Privileges: All LCCC students, faculty, and staff are eligible to borrow materials from the Ludden Library. Borrowing privileges are also extended to any resident of  Wyoming with a valid library card from a WYLD library  .  Parental permission slips must be signed in order for persons under the age of 18 to borrow materials from the library.

Library Cards:  LCCC library cards allow access to the entire WYLDCAT system which is comprised of public (county) libraries throughout the state of Wyoming, all seven community colleges, and the Wyoming State Library.  The borrower is responsible for all materials charged to his/her library card.  It is the borrower’s responsibility to report a lost or stolen card to the circulation desk so that a “stop” may be placed on the use of that card. You can view the statewide WYLD Card Policy here.

How to get a library card

LCCC Students, Faculty, Staff – The LCCC Student/Employee ID card is used as the library card.  They are issued at the Security office in the Student Services building and have the library barcode imprinted on them.  They will become active as a library card only after the student/employee has stopped at the circulation desk to complete their library registration.

Community Member – Library cards are issued at the circulation desk. Library cards are permanent. A $5.00 fee will be charged if the barcoded library card has to be replaced.

Library Reserves

Items may be placed on Reserve by instructors or library staff.  Reserves have limited check-out periods set by the instructor to ensure the item is available for all students enrolled in their course.  They are usually set at 2-hours (in library use only), 1-day, 3-days or 7-days.  Library staff generally cannot override the check-out period for a student unless the instructor has given permission.

Reserve items are not eligible for renewal and will incur a $1/day overdue fine that will accrue every day until the item is returned.

Laptops and camcorders have separate overdue fines as outlined in their check-out contracts.

Check out a book?

Bring your LCCC ID or any WYLD Library Card to the front desk along with the items you wish to check out.  If the item you want is on Reserve, you will need to ask for it at the front desk.

Renew a book?

There are 3 ways you can renew items:

  • Stop by the front desk and we can look up your account, verify which items are eligible for renewal and renew them.  You don't need to have the items physically present.
  • Call the front desk at 307-778-1205.
  • Renew items online.  You will need to enter the 14-digit barcode (from your library card) and your PIN number to login. Call the library for help if you are not certain where to find your login information.

Return a book?

The library has 3 book drops available:

  • inside the library at the front desk, accessible anytime the library is open
  • in the hallway outside the library, accessible anytime the building is unlocked even if the library is not open
  • at the curb in the parking lot immediately north of the library, accessible anytime

Additionally, if you are traveling within the state, you may return our books to any public library in Wyoming.
