Open Educational Resources (OER): Library Resources

While library materials are not free and are largely not published under open copyright, they are free to the student. Current articles and access to eBook chapters can supplement your course content, and in some cases can be used in place of traditional textbooks.

eBooks

The librarians are happy to purchase books and eBooks for your classes. Please contact us to gain access to the faculty account so you can shop for available eBooks yourself. We can also help you search for relevant content.

How to Link to Library Materials

To link to library content, do not simply copy and paste the URL you see in your browser's address bar. Instead, look for a "persistent URL" or a "permalink." These links will typically be formatted to work correctly and from off-campus. Some database links, such as those from ScienceDirect, will need a little extra formatting.

To link to a book or article, add this prefix to the URL:
https://lccc.idm.oclc.org/login?url=

For example, https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/B9780702028571500032 will become:

https://lccc.idm.oclc.org/login?url=https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/B9780702028571500032

Now students will be correctly routed through the library's off-campus proxy server and will be prompted to log into their myLCCC account if they are not already.

If you are ever in doubt, ask a librarian!
