Services & Resources for Faculty & Staff: zSpace Laptops

zSpace Introduction

What is zSpace Inspire?

zSpace Inspire is a laptop configuration that produces elements of virtual and augmented reality without requiring users to wear a headset or special glasses. zSpace creates lessons, models and experiences for their computer platform that create immersive experiences for students in many subject areas including: the arts, STEM, English language arts, and the social sciences.

Where are the zSpace Inspire Laptops on Campus?

  • The Learning Commons houses two zSpace laptops. Students can access VIVED Science, VIVED Anatomy, Franklin's Lab, Virtual ECG, Newton's Park, and VIVED Chemistry on these laptops.
  • There is an additional zSpace laptop in the Golden Eagle Wyrkshop in the library that allows students to access VIVED Anatomy and the Virtual ECG apps.
  • Our STEM department owns three zSpace laptops that have VIVED Science, Franklin's Lab, Newton's Park, and VIVED Chemistry on them and one that has VIVED Anatomy and Virtual ECG.
  • Additional zSpace laptops with manufacturing-related apps are in the AMMC.
  • ALL of the zSpace laptops across campus have StudioA3, Tinkercad, SpatialLabs, and Tilt Brush installed on them.

Check Out zSpace Laptops

Faculty and staff can checkout out three z-Space laptops from the library for a class period or event. The laptops check out for one week.

Please see Trent Morrell if you would like to use the STEM zSpace laptops.

zSpace App Information

Each of the apps is fully described on the Teach with zSpace webpage. Click into a pictured app on this webpage and you will find links to resource guides, lesson plans, and eBooks for that app.

To easily find a list of activities offered in an app, click this link to visit the search Lessons by Subject page. After you click on a subject, use the Filter by Software drop down menu to select a specific app.

  • Franklin's Lab: Build circuits and troubleshoot broken circuits in a rich simulation environment. Teach the process of troubleshooting while allowing students a safe place to discover the basics of electrical circuits.
  • Newton's Park: Learners can build simulations, change gravity, and stop and reverse time - all while gathering data to deepen understanding of Newtonian mechanics. Design, build, run and analyze experiments, virtually.
  • Virtual ECG: Virtual ECG trains students in ECG electrode placement, heart lead regions, and heart conditions.
  • VIVED Anatomy:  Make dry lab dissection easy, engaging and interactive with virtual dissection capability. Design and save lab sessions and create quiz questions to support your curriculum.
  • VIVED Chemistry: VIVED Chemistry includes 115 activities and simulations to support physical science and chemistry instruction - from an atom building and molecule viewer to a reaction lab, all in stereoscopic 3D.
  • VIVED Science: Dissect models related to human anatomy, botany, zoology, earth science, microbiology, and more.
  • SpatialLabs: SpatialLabs offers a variety of apps, including SpatialLabs Go, SpatialLabs Player, and SpatialLabs Model Viewer, to provide immersive stereoscopic 3D without the need for additional eye-wear.
  • StudioA3: Compare, dissect, analyze, and annotate thousands of 3D models. Complete hundreds of provided activities. Create your own content.
  • Tilt Brush: Paint in 3D space with dynamic brushes, allowing students to create scenes, models, and more.
  • Tinkercad: Tinkercad provides an easy, early training ground to introduce students to the world of 3D design and exploration. Students are able to create, customize, and prepare digital objects for 3D printing.
