360 Cameras & VR Filming

360 Cameras: 360 cameras capture immersive, spherical images and videos, allowing viewers to look in all directions—up, down, and side-to-side—from a single vantage point. These cameras typically use wide-angle lenses to capture a full 360-degree view, stitching the images together for a seamless experience. Used for VR content, virtual tours, and immersive storytelling, 360 cameras are valuable tools for creating engaging content that places viewers "inside" the scene.

Many schools have 360 cameras available for you to borrow. Additionally, the WIP VR program funded the purchase of two Insta360 Pro II VR cameras with the intention of these to be shared among institutions. Check with your library to see what is available.

360 VR Template: Capturing 360 images and video is just the first step in creating an immersive 360-based experience. Displaying your captured content within a VR headset requires the use of either a ‘360 video player’ or the use of a companion application.
